The Emerson Alumni Association is dedicated to keeping the past graduates and families of Emerson intimately involved in the present and future of the school.  The Alumni Association supports the Emerson Community in carrying out its 165-year tradition of enabling students to find their voices in a collegial environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, independence and mutual respect.

Notable Emerson graduates 

(1854) Three-time Civil War Medal of Honor winner, James Madison Cutts, Jr., who went on to graduate from Brown University and Harvard School of Law.

(1869, 1877) Buck and Jesse Root Grant, sons of President Ulysses S. Grant, attended Emerson during his White House years.

(circa 1920)  Judge John "Maximum John" Sirica, the presiding Judge during the Watergate crisis attended Emerson.

(1970) Science Fiction author, William F. Gibson .

(1983) Musician Brian Baker

(1989) Jared Leto: movie actor and lead vocalist of the alternative rock band 30 Seconds To Mars. 

(2003) Kate Grinold: Miss District of Columbia in June 2008, who also represented the District in 2009's Miss America Pageant.
